The Saudi Irrigation Organization is a government institution established in 1438 AH, aiming to achieve growth and sustainability in the field of irrigation, maximize the benefit from treated water in all its uses (agricultural, industrial, and urban), and ensure its delivery to the largest segment of beneficiaries across the Kingdom. It also seeks to develop dam management and preservation, ensuring water security and support sustainable development in the country.
And so we started.. Ambitious vision and hard work
Inauguration of the Irrigation and Drainage Project by King Faisal bin Abdulaziz (may Allah have mercy on him).
The Irrigation and Drainage Authority began carrying out its operational and maintenance activities.
Establishment of agricultural extension positions within the Authority.
Operation and management of the Qatif Improvement Project.
Establishment of the Date Packing Factory and assignment of its management to the Authority.
The Authority was assigned to manage and operate the Agricultural Development Project in Al-Aflaj.
The Authority's affiliation with the Al-Kharj Project ended, and the project was transferred to the Ministry's Livestock Sector.
The Irrigation Department in Dumat Al-Jandal was incorporated into the Authority.
Council of Ministers Resolution No. (542), dated 26/8/1438 AH, changed the name of the Irrigation and Drainage Authority to the General Irrigation Corporation and expanded its role to include the provision of agricultural irrigation and drainage services across all regions of the Kingdom.
The General Directorate of Irrigation in Riyadh was incorporated into the Corporation.
Opening of the Corporation's branch in Madinah.
